Gran Arzuaga 2009 75 cl.
Bodegas Arzuaga NavarroBodegas Arzuaga Navarro elaborates this extra-old red wine in the D.O. Ribera del Duero (España) with tempranillo, albillo y cabernet sauvignon grapes.
Description
This wine comes from an unprecedented blend. Blend of Tempranillo and Albillo (original from more than centennial strains of red clay soils and fine sand with ridges on the surface) together with Cabernet-Sauvignon, (from our La Plant that are very limestone soils almost limiting for the cultivation of the vine). The two plots have in common the high altitude that is around 900 meters).
With a total of 17 days of vatting and daily treading, the must was taken to new barrels of fine grain of French origin from the prestigious forests of Bertranges and Chatillonais. After malolactic fermentation, aging was taken care of on its fine lees, to gain in smoothness and depth. The 20 months of aging produced a natural settling that allowed non-stabilization through physical or chemical processes. Like the entire production process, the bottling was carried out by gravity and without clarifying or filtering, which allowed it to maintain all its structure and splendor, as well as to preserve that finesse, for which Bodegas ARZUAGA are renowned. .A great aromatic palette fills the senses. A few aromas of ripe black fruit assembled with perfumes of cedar and tobacco from the beginning are followed by a mixture of aromas of cocoa and wild flowers; accompanied with the unmistakable spices of these terroirs. All this wrapped with "unique" floral nuances that we find every year in this wine. On the palate it is powerful and fleshy, highlighting an unequaled length. The structure fills the mouth with a smooth, taut feel that demonstrates great class. All this tannic power is accompanied by those aromas of ripe fruit and fine notes of Russian leather. This is a wine that may seem austere but that already expresses extraordinary qualities and reveals fabulous potential.
Pairing:
For the high-end of the Arzuaga family, we propose something typical of the earth as roasted lamb or baged on a skewer on vine shoots. Perfect with meat stews or even dark chocolate, which enhance the complex structure of this great wine.
