Vega Sicilia Único 2014 75 cl.

Of the almost 1,000 hectares that make up the Vega Sicilia Estate, 210 are dedicated to the cultivation of vines, where 19 types of soils coexist, divided into a total of 64 plots with very specific particularities. In the extraordinary management of these soils, the influence of the course of the Duero River and the passage of time has been vital.

2014 was a generous year in production where we had to be more severe in pruning and harvesting, both in green. But these years where the weather is with us are usually both generous in quantity and quality. Grapes harvested from the 40 hectares used to produce Único and whose aging, with a minimum of 10 years between wood and bottle, is one of the longest in the world. In a first phase, we use 225-liter French and American oak barrels to shape the wine; in a second phase, we use 22,000-liter wooden vats. A long and complex construction of the wines, but at the same time wonderful, where as time goes by, it gains in infinite nuances, precision, texture and depth. Thanks to this incredible terroir and unique ageing, our wines become timeless as they age.

In 2014 the attack on the nose is more withdrawn, but the palate is abundant, generous, unctuous. It is a wine with a silky texture, but at the same time structured, concentrated but at the same time subtle. It is a delight that is enjoyable to drink now, but aging it in the bottle makes it eternal.

STORAGE AND PREFERENTIAL CONSUMPTION

This wine is suitable for drinking now, but has a cellaring potential of 40-60 years if kept in optimal conditions: 12-14 ºC and 60% relative humidity.

Best consumed at 18 ºC.
