San Román 2020 75 cl.
San Román Viñedos y BodegasSan Román Viñedos y Bodegas elaborates this old red wine in the D.O. Toro (España) with tempranillo grapes.
Description
ELABORATION:
San Román is a single varietal 100% Tinta de Toro (the name given to Tempranillo in the Toro D.O.) that ages for 24 months in 225 and 500 litre new and used French and American oak barrels.
VINTAGE:
Rainy cycle with rainfall well distributed throughout the year. Bud break was fast and full after a mild winter. May started with thunderstorms and continued with mild temperatures that allowed early flowering and excellent fruit set. After a hot July, the temperature contrasts between maximum and minimum temperatures increased, which favoured calm ripening until the start of the harvest at the end of August.
It was bottled in November 2022 after spending 24 months in new and used 225 and 500-litre French and American oak barrels.
TASTING NOTES:
Minerality to the fore on a nose with a profusion of black fruit and gently spicy notes. Full, fleshy, almost an emulsion of crunchy tannins on the palate. It marks a level of finesse under a solid frame.

About San Román Viñedos y Bodegas
San Román Bodegas y Viñedos is the second winery of Mariano García and his family in the Duero Valley, started after Bodegas Mauro (1980), and continued by Garmón Continental (his exclusive new project in Ribera del Duero).
San Román reaches an extension of 140 hectares of ecological vineyards, in conversion to biodynamic viticulture, with the aim of increasing organic matter and favoring biodiversity in the soil.
