Vega Sicilia Valbuena 5º Año 2019 75 cl.

Valbuena 5º is the purest expression of red wine at Vega Sicilia, with five years of aging between oak and bottle, which gives the wine its name: Valbuena 5º.

This was a drier vintage than the previous ones and this was reflected in the grape tasting at the beginning of September. Very healthy grapes and thanks to the rains that fell at this time helped the skins to ripen well. Our obsession was to find that point of freshness without over-ripening. During fermentation we were careful to make a gentle extraction. Of course we adapted the aging by aging part of the wine in vats during the first year to find more tension in the wines. This was a vintage where we gave less weight to American oak and more to French oak, especially fresh roasted oak. In the second year of aging, the vats worked that complexity of nuances and above all the elegance in the texture.

Valbuena 5º 2019 is at once succulent and powerful, taut and delicate. It is expressive, elegant, joyful, profound, a fascinating wine.

STORAGE AND PREFERENTIAL CONSUMPTION

This wine is suitable for drinking at present, but it has a cellaring potential of 25 years if kept in optimal conditions: 12-14 ºC and 60% relative humidity.

Best consumed at 18 ºC.
