Puente del Ea is a boutique winery on the banks of the river Ea formed by a group of friends who love wine, gastronomy and nature. After a few years dedicated to understanding the virtues of the vineyard environment at the westernmost and highest point of the Rioja Alta area, it is now back with more strength than ever.

The Puente del Ea vineyard is framed by a particularly harmonious environment, between the continental-type plains and the wild surroundings of the Obarenes Mountains, occupied by holm oak, pine and oak forests. This natural setting is home to a rich and diverse native fauna such as hares, roe deer and wild boar. Partridges, falcons and golden eagles soar over the landscape.

The Puente del Ea estate is located at the highest point of the Rioja Qualified Designation of Origin, at its westernmost end. This privileged location, at the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria, makes Puente de Ea a member of the select club of mountain wines.

The high altitude, together with the proximity of the mountains, means that the terroir is dominated by strong winds and there are large temperature changes between day and night, which means that the grapes produce a greater quantity of polyphenols and the ripening cycle is lengthened. These conditions result in a more intense colour and greater structural nuances in the wines.

The landscape surrounding the winery is breathtaking. Between high mountains, there is a wide valley dotted with villages, wheat fields and vineyards. In the midst of this green and golden mosaic, wines are made that convey the essence of a unique place in the world. Wines that speak of tradition and future, of roots and history, of the environment in which they grow and the nature that shapes them. The result is two ranges of wine: a more classic one, Eridano, and a more modern one, Puente del Ea.

The winery is managed since 2016 by Rodrigo Madrid and with the Riojan Ana Gonzalo as the main oenologist, the project takes on a new dimension with the incorporation of the agronomist, viticulturist, oenologist and international consultant Julien Viaud, known for his more than 15 years as part of Michel Rolland's team.
