Zacapa XO is an ultra-premium rum made from a vintage rhine mix between 6 and 25 years, with an additional aging in French oak barrels previously used to age cognac that reveal pillows aromas and Spices. Instead of molasses, Zacapa employs "virgin honey", acquired from the first pressing of sugarcane, and exposes it to an exclusive aging process called solera, storing in previously used barrels for aging whiskeys , wines of Jerez and Pedro Ximénez, and cognac. The key of Zacapa is its slow aging in the cold lands of the Altiplano de Guatemala, at 2,300 m altitude, which adds a final balance between the aromas and flavors extracted during the procedure. In January 2012, the Zacapa brand was considered by the World Luxury Association as one of the hundred most appreciated and reputable brands of the luxury market worldwide.
