Viña Soledad 2020 75 cl.
Bodegas Franco EspañolasBodegas Franco Españolas elaborates this young white wine in the D.O.C. Rioja (España) with macabeo grapes.
Description
For the production of Viña Soledad, the grape bunches are transported in a stainless steel hopper and then destemmed. The contact with the grape skin, pulp, pips and must takes place in stainless steel tanks for approximately 14 hours at an average temperature of 10ºC. After this time, the must is separated from the solid parts and ferments separately at an average temperature of 16ºc. After part of the fermentation, it is stopped by cooling systems in order to maintain the natural sugars that give this wine one of its peculiarities.
TASTING NOTES:
Pale yellow colour with greenish reflections. Intensely fruity aromas resulting from its cold fermentation, mainly green apple, stone fruit... and others characteristic of the Viura variety. Dry, light and easy to drink, it has a pleasant, crisp acidity.

About Bodegas Franco Españolas
Bodegas Franco-Españolas was born in 1890 as the union between France and Spain at a peak moment in Rioja when the French vineyards were devastated by the phylloxera disease. It was the origin of the "fine wines of Rioja". It was founded by Frederick Anglade Saurat, a native of Bordeaux. The first vintage, a year later, resulted in the winery's icon wines: Diamante and Estilo Borgoña. This was renamed Rioja Bordón in the 1950s, and in 2017 it was redesigned as Bordón. Years later the French sell their shares and the winery becomes fully Spanish.
The end of Prohibition in the US in 1933 and the revival of the Control Board in 1953 will give a boost to exports of Rioja wines. Franco-Españolas had a presence in the major European cities, as well as in Caracas, Buenos Aires, Havana and New York. 1964 was an excellent vintage, perhaps the best of the century.
In the eighties, the businessman Marcos Eguizábal buys Bodegas Franco-Españolas, and in 1990 the first centenary of the winery is celebrated. In 2012 the image of the Diamante and Rioja Bordón wines was renewed, and in 2013 the winery received 'The Best of' award for Wine Tourism in the category of Innovative Experiences.
Its privileged location, on the banks of the Ebro River, has made Bodegas Franco-Españolas a witness to the history of Logroño. In the hands of the Eguizábal family since 1984, it is currently immersed in new projects and is a benchmark among the leisure and cultural offerings of La Rioja with its varied wine tourism proposals.
Historically, Rioja red wines have been made from a blend of the region's traditional native varieties: Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano.
Among the more than 60,000 hectares of vineyards in Rioja, each variety reaches its maximum expression depending on the climate and soil type of the different sub-zones of the DOCa (Alta, Alavesa and Oriental). For this reason we use grapes from different areas from our own vineyards or from the vineyards of small winegrowers with whom the winery has had agreements for over 30 years.
