WINEMAKING:
Selected from Tinta del País vineyards at 900m above sea level facing slightly west, gently undulating and on loamy soils with high carbonate content. Exposed to a wide temperature difference between day and night which allows the fruit to ripen and thicken the skins, producing a deep wine with a strong influence of the terroir.
Harvested in mid-October at low temperatures, the grapes are destemmed and, without breaking them, they are placed in stainless steel tanks where they undergo a pre-fermentation maceration at low temperature for 5 days. During fermentation, delestages are carried out until 2 thirds of the fermentation is completed. When fermentation is finished, a post maceration is carried out by periodically wetting the cap. Malolactic fermentation in American and French oak barrels with subsequent ageing in the same barrels for 24 months. Aged in the bottle until it is released onto the market. Unclarified.
TASTING NOTES:
Powerful and elegant at the same time, with a high robe and a dark red colour. The nose is astonishing for its development in the glass showing aromas of black fruit, blackberry, ripe plum on a floral background of violets, there are also notes of liquorice and ageing in fine wood, spices, dark chocolate framed by tertiary aromas of cigar box and leather.
In the mouth it stands out for its volume, distinction and complexity. Broad and balanced with freshness highlighting the fruit, embraced by smooth and polished tannins, lengthening the persistence and extending the structure. At its ideal point of consumption with an enormous ageing potential.
